Fixing games not launching in Windows 10
Finally… After 2 days of losing my patient and trying different stuff in order to get some games running. I manage to solve the problem.
For some reason after installing the Windows 10 Anniversary update, between some other problems, some of my games decided not to work, including Rocket League and CS:GO. What happened, (or rather not happen) every time I tried to start the game trough Steam, nothing would happen.
When I tried to run Rocket League as Administrator, as per recommended on Steam Forums and got the following error message:
According to my research and tests, there are a few possible problems and solutions, but mainly it seems to be a DirectX problem.
Here some of the Solutions:
So first thing, you should check is your drivers, make sure that your graphic card has the latest drivers.
Second, get the latest versions of VC++ installed on your computer, 32 and 64bit. You can download them here – https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2977003
Third, install the latest version of DirectX – you can download the installer here – https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
If you’re getting the same error as me, the files could be corrupt. The solution is to delete the files and run the DirectX Installer again.
You need to delete both the 32 and 64bit version of the files. In my case was the d3dx11_43.dll. You can locate this files in:
Delete all files that are causing the error, in my case there were a couple of files. And just run the installer for DirectX again, this should install the missing files again.
That’s it. Now all your games should start and run as usual, without Administrator mode or compatibility mode needed.
I hope this help someone since I spend quite a lot of time trying to sort this out. If this didn’t help, or there are other problems and solutions let me know, I’ll add to the post.
Now go play some Got Damn games.
