The Superformula

According to Wikipedia the Superformula is:
The superformula is a generalization of the superellipse and was proposed by Johan Gielis around 2000. Gielis suggested that the formula can be used to describe many complex shapes and curves that are found in nature.
This means that any geometric shape can be generated with this “simple” formula, that is something really cool. Including generating 3D Shapes and some other cool things.
And apparently can also be used in games, to help generate big amounts of terrain date in a natural way, with little code needed. That was the case in No Man Sky, according to several sources, this formula is responsible for the massive random generated worlds in No Man Sky. Although this is not a bad thing, Hello Games could be in trouble because of this, since the use of the formula has been patented by the creators.
Btw, what do you guys thing of the Game? When I saw the first images and videos of the Game, I was quite excited about the game, but after all the negative reviews and feedback, I’m a bit concerned that might not match my expectations. Did you guys play the game, what do you think of it?
I was going to buy it, but I’m not sure anymore.
