The Everyday Challenge
It’s been awhile since I opened up Cinema 4D and got excited about creating something, to try something new or to start a new project. And by a while, I mean a really long time, a few long months since I last opened Cinema 4D or any other similar software.
I moved to London a year ago with the objective to get a better job, doing something that I’m passion about. That passion is Designing, develop new concepts, new ideas, try to create something new and different. No matter what media it is, Print, Digital, video or even 3D and animation.
As it happens this month I got invited to join the 3D Printing Show here in London, as a volunteer for a very cool company, more on that will be revealed soon on another post. That sparkled some of that interest to get back to Cinema 4D and 3D and general. Which got me thinking what can I do to improve myself? To challenge my self and try to learn something new. After looking around and digging some of my old projects and look for some inspiration on the web I came across this guy and his Project called Everyday.
This is not something new, in fact is been done by a lot a artists, designers, photographers and other people around the web. The idea of getting a project done every day, week or month is to be able to improve yourself, learn something new, or maybe overcome a fear or a difficulty in some aspect of the project, like for example getting a design done from start finish in the deadline that you set to be done.
Beeple also known as Mike Winkelmann has been uploading a project for the past 8 years, every single freaking day with a different theme / software, to his website. There are also a few other artists / Designers that I found doing the same.
Tom Judd for example a draw everyday for a year.
Jeff Harris who takes a photo everyday. http://jeffharris.org/
I also found this video on TED which talks about the 30 days challenges by Matt Cutts
So I decided to get my shit together and start to do something about it. Meaning that from the beginning of next month, I’m dedicating at least one hour of my day, every single day to do get some shit done. I’m going to start uploading something new everyday, maybe a picture, a screenshot of the progress of something that I’m working in that day or share some new stuff that I learned. The goal is to improve, learn, become better at something.
The June “Theme” is going to be – Back to the Basics – Cinema 4D Edition, meaning that since it’s been a long time that I done some kind of project in Cinema I notice that started to forget some really basic shit. So lets get back to the start.
I encourage everyone to do the same. Open your favorite software, grab a piece of paper, draw something. I don’t come with some f**cking lame excuse, that you don’t have time. Move that shit ass lazy butt and get your hands to work. Half an hour a day, it doesn’t need to be everyday, it could be every week or even every month get some out new and show yourself that you can do it.
Sorry about the long post, I will be posting some new updates soon, there’s also a few tweaks that I need to do to the website. Also, I’m planning to release a some new tutorials as well, along the way of this new challenge. If you have anything to say about this, want to share some inspiration or have any suggestion, leave a comment, share your thoughts, whine about, say that this is a stupid idea (not that I give a f**k about that), leave it below 😉
